I APPLAUD Christine Hudson's marvellous letter (Monday) about sex education being made the remit of parents, and in my opinion she is absolutely right.
But, during my grandparents', parents' and my time there was never any sex education. That did not stop people having copious amounts of children - so what has gone wrong with today's generation who seem to get pregnant at a drop of hat, many of whom are only children themselves? In the old days, if you had a child out of wedlock you were stigmatised and shamed to such a degree that many decided to give away their children to avoid it. These youngsters were then bought up in children's homes. I am sure we don't want to go back to those days, but many of the children born then were genuine mistakes. With today's children there is no excuse whatsoever for getting pregnant.See the full content of this document
