Summary
I FEEL there has been a lot of disinformation recently regarding the sale of Plymouth Citybus.
There is widespread belief that if the city council sells Citybus to a private company, concessionary fares will be stopped for all the Council Taxpayers in Plymouth who are aged 60 plus. This is a scheme partly funded by the government. The remainder has to be paid out of our council tax. Last year the taxpayers of Plymouth paid more than Pounds 42,000 in concessionary fares. As you can see by this letter, it is the taxpayers of Plymouth who pay for the lack of funding by this Labour government. The government announces these schemes, but has not paid for the scheme to be fully funded. As the saying goes, there is no such thing as a free lunch.See the full content of this document
