PLYMOUTH'S post-war NAAFI building was designed by E M Joseph of architects Messrs Joseph, writes architecture expert Graham Hobbins. Construction began in 1949 and the building was officially opened by Princess Margaret in July 1952.
Among the first post-war buildings to be built in the city centre, the architecture of the NAAFI was somewhat unique to Plymouth and shows us a time during the modern movement when architects were looking to the Scandinavian model for their sources of inspiration.See the full content of this document
