ROUND-the-world yachtsman Robin Knox-Johnson arrived in Plymouth after setting a new British record to the historic Atlantic clipper run. The Herald wrote: "He has claimed a time of 10 days, 14 hours, nine minutes for the run from New York's Ambrose Light to the Lizard, clipping nine minutes off his own record last April in the 60ft catamaran British Airways II." The yachtsman was now looking for a new sponsor, while a new buyer was what 22-year-old Devonport- based frigate HMS Galatea was seeking.
