A WOMAN is more likely to be raped by a partner or former partner than by the stereotypical "rapist in the bushes", according to crime figures.

More than half of all sexual assaults are committed by current or former partners, while only 11 percent of serious sexual assaults were committed by strangers, according to research studying the British Crime Survey.
