RETAIL giant Marks & Spencer failed to protect customers, staff and workers from the possibility of being exposed to asbestos during major refurbishment works at three of its stores, a court heard.

The clothing and food store is accused of failing to ensure all steps were taken to prevent the potentially deadly fibres from being released during work in the stores.
