Well said, Peter Manley (Thursday). The energy companies were very quick to pass on rises in the wholesale prices of oil and gas to the consumer but they have been slow to reduce them; even the petrol companies have had to pass on the reduction at the pumps, but we wait in vain for our domestic fuel bills to fall.

Shouldn't the Government be stepping in to force them to do this? After all, it is the taxpayer who will have to pick up the tab for the suppliers' greed, with extra payments for pensioners etcetera. The iniquitous thing is this direct debit business which allows the companies to take whatever money they want straight out of your account.
