Scrap the Fee

Summary

Not only did Santa visit every home this Christmas, but so did Scrooge in the guise of the BBC. On Christmas Day we had a rehash of old films which we get every year, plus two repeat programmes, just the Queen's Speech, Strictly Come Dancing and EastEnders the exception. BBC2 had 14 repeats, not counting the repeat films. Every day we get at least 50 per cent repeats, yet the BBC stated last year they would give us better programmes if they got the rise in licence fees. It seems all we are paying for is the fat cats' wages, like pounds6million for Jonathan Ross and others like him who, in my view, are all well overpaid. No wonder they can't give us a good service. Now I hear that yet another increase in our licence fee is on the cards, in times when we are all struggling. The public should get together on this. Other countries don't pay fees, eg. Canada and the US; why should we, for repeats? The BBC are even now advertising their radios on screen for sale. To me, they're no different from ITV, Virgin or Sky.
