Summary
TWENTY million pounds for Citybus. Not a bad price, I suppose but then it is a one-off.
Once that money is gone there will be no other income from our bus service, whereas now a regular 'income' of up to Pounds 260,000 a year is quite a decent bit of cash. This money is used to offset incurred costs by this council on assets that do not pay off. Not to mention help in the easement of Council Tax for the citizens of Plymouth. In my view, the way this council spends money, that Pounds 20million will be gone in no time and the people of Plymouth will see little benefit from that money. I would rather see a regular income yearly, than a one-off sale that will see the money vaporise. The 'safeguards' given by Go-Ahead are only short term, so who knows what will happen to Citybus after that? By then, it will be too late to do anything about it.See the full content of this document
