A FRESH drive aimed at removing weapons from the streets of two South East Cornwall towns was to be launched today . From this week, door staff at two nightclubs in Liskeard and Looe are to carry hand- held metal detectors as part of an initiative funded by Devon and Cornwall Police.
In what is believed to be the first scheme of its kind in Devon and Cornwall, the police hope that the move will make nightclubs safer - and have the twin aims of 'reducing the fear of violent crime and taking weapons off the streets'.See the full content of this document
