IN MY view, Langage Power station is the best thing to happen in years to Plymouth, which is too often stuck in the past.
It is widely forecast that due to lack of government planning, should we have a severe winter in the next 20 years then we will face power cuts because of a lack of power plants. I believe Plymouth, at the end of the power chain, would have been at the front of the queue to suffer cuts certainly before Bristol or Exeter. Langage will prevent that happening here and although the jobs created by its presence will not happen overnight they will come. So for the long term future benefits, be prepared to put up with very short term inconvenience. I am as concerned as anyone regarding pollution, but realise you cannot build such a large and complicated engineering project without smoke and dust being expelled during the process.
