Summary
As a former pupil of Devonport Secondary Modern School back in the 1960s, I was always intrigued by a faded blue banner preserved in a glass cabinet in the entrance lobby. This remembered the establishment's roots in the 'Devonport Naval and Military School', a title which I always felt held far more prestige.
I think the school succumbed to the Blitz and had to be relocated elsewhere for the duration of the war. After the war it changed name and location, being rehoused in a new building on Park Avenue, which was officially opened by Margaret Thatcher in her earlier role as Science Minister.See the full content of this document
