I recently caught up with South Coast standout Matz Ginman- Trout. Whilst you won't find Matz hustling waves on the North Coast contest scene, he is one Devon free-surfer to watch out for.
Born in Plymouth, Matz's family emigrated to NewZealand, where his dad introduced him to surfing. A keen bodyboarder through his informative years, it wasn't until Matz was back in the UK that he migrated to a surfboard. Matz's transition was sped up by his friend and mentor Martin Connelly (now his brother-in-law). Matz recalls Martin threatening to not take him to the beach, if he didn't at least give surfing a try - Matz gave it a go, and he's been on a surfboard ever since!See the full content of this document
