Not Even Trying ; Your Say...

Summary

HOW strange for Cllr Vivien Pengelly to say Plymouth does not celebrate its history enough.

This council, and many before, have not tried to bring HMS Plymouth back to the city, or even bothered to sort out the Dockyard Museum so there would be no chance of bringing Gypsy Moth back. Perhaps in 400 years' time they will try to build replicas of them. The excuse will now be budget restraints, but even before I feel the council has shown no interest. The authority found money to build the Mayflower Information Centre on the Barbican. When I visited earlier this year it had a large banner advertising flights by British Airways from Plymouth Airport, and many of the exhibits were missing. It was a total mess. The only saving grace is the excellent Tourist Information Centre on the ground floor. What happened to the model made for Mayflower 70 of Plymouth in 1620? I seem to remember it was put in the old library at Devonport.
