MP GARY STREETER can arrange payment of almost Pounds 3,000 for a child's care so his secretary can carry on working for him. Please can I make a comparison? I am an elderly full-time carer for a wife who has a number of health problems and is registered disabled.
After a time looking after her I was advised to apply for carer's allowance. I completed a lengthy questionnaire and was contacted by a person who questioned me at length on private matters to do with domestic issues and especially my finances, only to be informed that because my state pension was greater than carers' allowance (Pounds 50.50) I was not entitled.
