History of the Boys Brigade

Summary


THE Boys' Brigade movement was founded in 1883 by a 29-year-old Scotsman who was then a serving officer with the 1st Lanarkshire Rifle Volunteers, his name - William Alexander Smith.

Smith was also a Sunday School teacher in Glasgow and, along with many of his peers, was finding it increasingly difficult to keep young boys interested in attending on the Sabbath.
