Greens Boss Looking for Fallon to Lead From Front

Summary

MANAGER Peter Reid will not use the sale of some of his best players as an excuse for Argyle's poor recent results. The Pilgrims have had to cash in on winger Craig Noone, defender Reda Johnson and 13-goal top scorer Bradley Wright-Phillips this month as they desperately struggle to avoid financial ruin. Argyle have also had a busy period of matches during January, and they have lost four of the last five. The one exception was the 3-1 win away to play-off chasing MK Dons on February 18. The Pilgrims are 15th in the League One table, ahead of the visit of second-placed Bournemouth to Home Park tomorrow. They are six points clear of the four relegation positions, but have played more matches than any of the teams below them. So Argyle need to start winning games - and soon - to stay out of trouble. Reid said: "Everyone knows the financial situation at the club.

It's tough at the moment, but you can't make any excuses. "You have got to win football matches and I think, even now, we have still got the players to do that." Argyle will rely heavily on New Zealand international Rory Fallon as the focal point of their attack. Fallon has played the last two matches - the victory over MK Dons and the 2-0 defeat at Charlton Athletic last Saturday - since returning from a loan spell with Championship club Ipswich Town. He did not score against MK Dons, but his physical presence played a part in the victory. Reid said: "We got three great goals against MK Dons, but I'm desperate for somebody to get a tap-in from six yards, or for one of the strikers to get across the near post. "Rory can be a big influence for us, but it's also up to Rory Patterson and Yala (Yannick Bolasie) to come to the party." Reid continued: "I have watched the game against Charlton and we were in control of it for much of the time. "They didn't cause us any problems, but we didn't cause them enough problems. "That's where Rory Fallon can help us.
