'FIRE fighting at Plymouth - A serious outbreak of fire in Devonshire-lane, Union-street, Plymouth, was speedily subdued by Plymouth Fire Brigade last evening.'

So ran the caption to this photograph when it first appeared in the press on July 7, 1932. "It was my grandfather's store," says Norman Martin, who brought the original cutting in to Looking Back, "it was near where Toys'r'Us is now."
