DEFENCE Secretary Liam Fox has contrasted the bravery of Plymouth Royal Marines in Afghanistan with the 'mindless' behaviour of rioters over the summer, writes Nick Lester, Parliamentary Correspondent.

It was these troops and the rest of the military which "truly represent Britain at its best" he told delegates at the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester. The Secretary of State also recalled the Falklands conflict ahead of the 30th anniversary next year, and pledged to continue to guarantee the security of the islands in the South Atlantic.
