Families Face Housing Benefit Cuts

Summary

FAMILIES in Plymouth could lose up to Pounds 20 a week in housing benefit under proposed Government reforms.

Anyone deemed to be under-occupying by one bedroom stands to lose up to 15 per cent of their housing benefit and those considered to have two or more "spare" bedrooms will lose up to 25 per cent of their benefit. The National Housing Federation, which represents housing associations, says this could cost families in the South West up to Pounds 20 a week of their housing benefit - or up to Pounds 1,000 a year from 2013.
