Summary
On february 12, Charles Darwin would have been 200 years old. He didn't last that long, of course, but perhaps evolved into something new and astonishing. We will never know.
I've been fascinated by the recent television programmes about him. They've made compelling watching, especially the one about archeopteryx, the missing link between reptiles and birds. I bet that 200 years ago, no-one would have thought something like that could be discovered, and in such an irrefutable way: a creature fossilised in stone, with wings and feathers, yet with claws on its wings, a tail with a kind of backbone in it and a beak with teeth, thus proving the link.
