Albion Left Frustrated As Weather Ko's Match

Summary

PLYMOUTH Albion suffered more British & Irish Cup frustration at the weekend with the postponement of their home match against Newport. Albion's pitch was deemed playable following a morning inspection, but Welsh side Newport were unable to travel to Devon due to the poor weather conditions.

The postponement came on the back of the abandonment of their match with Leinster at Skerries the previous weekend, due to floodlight failure when they were winning 10-5. They played a hastily arranged replay the following day in Ireland, but Albion lost 25-16. "We were deeply frustrated we could not play on Saturday," said chairman of rugby Graham Dawe. "Players like to play every week. "And our pitch was playable, but Newport were unable to travel due to snow in South Wales. "It's sod's law that we have a pitch playable but can't play, however, we understand there had been a heavy amount of snow in South Wales and north Devon."
