A PLYMOUTH businessman accused of trying to mislead a civil court with forged letters has been acquitted at a trial in the city's Crown court. The jury took just 50 minutes to find bespoke tailor John Kingdom unanimously not guilty of doing an act tending and intended to pervert the course of public justice.
'We're Still so Proud of Joshua's Achievements'
THE STEPMOTHER of a Plymstock soldier killed in Afghanistan says the family continues to be proud of his achievements. Leigh Hammond made her comments as military chiefs claimed victory in the operation against the Taliban in which stepson Joshua died along with nine others.
A FORMER soldier from Plymouth seriously wounded in action has blasted the Government's attempt to cut the level of compensation for injured personnel. Ben Dillon, who sustained horrific injuries and nearly died during an explosion in Bosnia in 1999, says he is disgusted that the Ministry of Defence (MoD) is trying to reduce its liability to include only the initial injuries suffered.

Steps Towards a Different World
THE city centre was given a burst of colour and music during a Cultural Olympiad Open Weekend. The aim of the fun event, which featured music, drama and dance, was to stimulate the formation of an intercultural music and dance company for the city, and showcase its young talent in the run-up to the 2012 Olympics.
Man Faces Court After Accident
A MAN is expected to appear in court today charged with drink- driving after a three-car accident in Plymstock. Steven Allen, aged 26, is due to face Plymouth magistrates following the crash at Turnquay, in Oreston, at around 11.10pm on Monday. Police said that a Vauxhall Astra had collided with a blue Renault Megane and a white Vauxhall Vivaro.
