Youngsters in Devonport will get a chance early in their lives to try out new sports and exercise activities, thanks to a series of grants worth nearly pounds200,000. Torbay Coroner to Keep Hearing City's Inquests
City council chiefs say they will advertise for a new coroner within the next three months - leaving Torbay's coroner to continue covering the city's inquests in the meantime. Since August, when former Plymouth coroner Nigel Meadows resigned the post to take up his role as Her Majesty's Coroner for Manchester, Torbay and South Devon coroner Ian Arrow has also been acting as the deputy coroner for Plymouth.
Princess anne is to open a new Plymouth Citizens Advice Bureau unit which will house an innovative debt service. The Princess Royal, a patron of the CAB nationally, will open the Barbican Training Suite on June 26.
'Compensation Will Give Me Time with Family'
A woman who contracted a terminal asbestos-related lung cancer by hugging her dockyard worker father says she will use a compensation payout to spend quality time with her family. Plymouth mother-of-three Debbie Brewer has received an interim compensation amount of pounds25,000 from the Ministry of Defence, which admitted liability in February.
